Joris Debeij’s Perfectly Normal is Live on NY Times Op-Docs!
Jordan Kamnitzer invites us into his world through Joris Debeij’s New York Times Op-Doc Perfectly Normal. Jordan, an effervescent, cleverly humorous and quick-witted Angeleno has Asperger’s syndrome. He also has an incredible encyclopedic knowledge of music and film, as well as a passion and interest for the arts, a full time job and a loving relationship with Toni, who also has disabilities. Perfectly Normal gives viewers a sense of Jordan’s perspective on reality, his attempts and successes at emotional connections and moments where Jordan escapes into a chaotic and imaginary reality. This beautiful and poignant short doc excels in compassionate and thoughtful storytelling.
We applaud Joris most for his ability to allow Jordan to tell his own story, and hope to see more films that express the warmth, richness, and beauty of people with Asperger’s and Autism.
The film can be viewed on the New York Times website: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/14/opinion/perfectly-normal.html
