Barking Owl Dominates at the 59th Annual Grammys!

Family Member Barking Owl dominates at the 59th Annual Grammys with memorable work for Nike, Target and the Recording Academy. Congratulations to the team at Barking Owl for some amazing work!

For their 24th collaboration with Nike and W+K Portland, Barking Owl delivers gorgeous sound design and mix for this very important piece. Nike “Equality” takes a stand and delivers a powerful message with an anthemic display of sportsmanship, fairness, and respect beyond the court and field. Featuring star athletes Serena Williams, LeBron James, Gabby Douglass, Kevin Durant and Victor Cruz breaking down the boundaries of their respective sports and coming together. We are thankful to Nike for once again, capturing what we are all feeling reflecting our collective stance for equality in an inspiring piece. Barking Owl sound designer Morgan Johnson comes into his own with his work on this. Congrats, Morgan, you made us proud!

Carly Rae Jepsen, Lil Yachty and Mike WiLL Made-It teamed up to cover DJ EZ Rock and Rob Base’s 1988 party anthem “It Takes Two” in an energetic and lively music video for Target from Mother NY. In the expertly choreographed spot, Lil Yachty rides a hoverboard while wearing a VR headset and Carly Rae Jepsen croons amidst a giant pile of animated emoji pillows. The over-the-top and extravagant music video features sound design by Barking Owl.

The Recording Academy continued its theme of the uplifting power of music in this year’s Grammy spot. Utilizing Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at last year’s awards as a rallying cry for girl power, the spot features original music by Barking Owl’s Houston Fry and Sound Design and Mix by Patrick Navarre. The short film re-imagined Swift’s speech for Record of the Year as a universal anthem for young girls pursuing their dreams, from theatre, to music, to sports and beyond.  We love the message!
